hi mike do you have my question
Great! To reset your D00901 Kindle, there is no need to open the back. The reset procedure for your Kindle is as follows:

1) Unplug your Kindle (if it is plugged in).
2) Slide and hold the power switch for at least 20 seconds.
3) Release the power switch and wait.
4) Your Kindle will go blank and the screen may flash on/off a few times.
5) After a few moments, the reset should be complete and your Kindle should power on.

tried all that several times/ the "saver screen"takes up90 percent of the screen and the power switch hold has really no effect is it a kindle 1 2 or 3-
Ok, well that is the reset procedure for your Kindle. If your Kindle is not resetting, there is a hardware failure, which means it will need to be sent for repair.
I can get Amazons toll-free number for you if you'd like.
that would be good ...can you tell by the model number if its a 1 2 or 3....
Sure, one moment please...
also ...how can i open it to get to the battery...
Do you have anymore questions unrelated to the reset? That way I know what your expectations are before I continue answering questions?
nope ...thats it... just the phone number...type of kindle i have and how to open it to get to the battery...thank you
Great... you have the Kindle 3. The number is XXXXX: 1-866-321-8851. A disassembly video can be found here: 3rd Gen Kindle Disassembly .
But I should mention that disassembling the Kindle will void the warranty.
so that stuff about using a pin to reset or removing the battery is not apprpriate for the kindle 3 ...thata it...thanks mike...good service
Yes, that is only for the Kindle 1.
And not a problem. I'm glad to help.
Thank you! Happy Holidays!
