Let's try that reset again, but instead of 15 seconds, hold it for 30 seconds, and do the reset with the Kindle plugged in, and again with it unplugged.

ok now resetting while plugged in

done, do I try to turn it on just have blank white screen

Did anything happen when you tried to restart it?

Customer:

just turned off into this blank screen. I let go of the power button after 30sec. Should I have waited for the screen to start blinking before letting go of power button?

Does it turn on when you slide the power switch?

Yes

Do the home and menu keys do anything?

Customer:

yes, they work

just the 5way controller that won't respond

In that case, there's likely a hardware problem with the 5-way, and it will need to be repaired. I'm assuming that the Kindle is less than a year old, so doing the repair yourself isn't worth it since Amazon will cover that under the warranty. To get it repaired under the warranty, just call them at 1-866-321-8851, and they will take care of it.

ok but you must agree that you having me reset my kindle 1x and not really fixing the problem is not worth $38. If you spent more time perhaps...again sorry.bye
