Thanks for this question. Actually a PETH test looks back at your alcohol usage over the last 3-4 weeks. It checks the blood for direct byproducts produced by consumption of alcohol namely phosphatidylethanol. These byproducts can remain in your system for upto 3 weeks or longer in some cases. It is thought this is the most accurate test to determine whether a person has been using alcohol and can also estimate the amount of alcohol that person has used. Now usually a level of greater than 95 ng/ml indicates that a person has had 2 binge sessions per day over the last three weeks. A level of 700 ng/ml is EXTREMELY high and this would mean that the person whose test was done has had multiple binge drinking sessions per day over the last three weeks.
