Customer Question

My son recently had dental work where he received 3% polocaine, 4 vials, 1.7 cc each. He currently has HTN and renal artery stenosis. He was ordered by the court to take a drug test later that day and they said it came back positive for cocaine. Given the medications he was given, and his current health issues, could this cause a false positive for cocaine?

Procaine (the commercail drug: NOvocaine), although synthetically derived from cocaine, has a distinct structural difference from cocaine and benzoylecgonine (the metabolite of cocaine). It should not cause false-positive cocaine test results in urine testing. He used cocaine.
