Perinopril is not a medication that is included in drug tests because:
  • It is not generally a drug that would be considered to have an abuse potential (people don't take it to get "high")
  • It is not a medication that would cause impairment of function or a safety hazard (is does not cause drowsiness or other side effects likely to inferfere with your job)
The purpose of drug tests is to detect and deter the use of illegal drugs (marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines etc) and the abuse of medication without a prescription. It is not used to identify or deter the legal and appropriate use of medications to treat conditions such as high blood presssure.

Thank you - can it give a false positive though?

NO - this medication would not give a positive result on a drug test.
