Can Benzocaine and/or Lidocaine cause a false positive for cocaine during a urine drug screen?
While "benzocaine" and "lidocaine" sound like cocaine, they are chemically unrelated and there is no scientific evidence supporting a claim that either of these medications would cause a false positive for cocaine.You should check with the lab to be sure that the drug screen was performed with GC/MS confirmation, since this test methodology eliminates the possibility (no matter how small) of false positives.
