Dr. Shirley Schaye :

Thank you for Contacting Just Answer. No, it is not possible. You might feel in the dream that you are going to die but when you wake up you will feel relieved that it was only a dream.

can you elaborate a little more like what this dream might mean?

In order to analyze a dream I would need to know your associations to the dream --- all parts of it. For example, your falling off a cliff ,did you think in the dream that you can get hurt or die if you hit the ground in your sleep? Yes, indeed! Your associations to all parts of the dream are very relevant in order to be able to analyze your dream.A dream is a representation of ones' unconscious. It is a representation of a wish or a fear. I am a psychoanalyst and do psychoanalysis and therefore interpret dreams every day in my practice. To interpret a dream, you need,as I said, a person's free associations to the dream. You also need to know what happened during the day, week of the dream ( what we call the Day Residue), the affect in the dream. It is totally ignorant to make a generalized symbolic representation of parts of the dream without knowing all about the person. Dreams are very specific to ones unconscious.

So I await your response and I will then be glad to help you interpret this dream.

I was driving a car on a mountain road in my home state of Arizona in a canyon made a sharp turn on a curvy road and hit a railing and the car went through off the cliff.I was scared i was going to die then awoke?

I take it that that was reality. Am I correct in assuming that? If that was reality then your dream is an expression of your unconscious fear. Remember what I said: A dream is a representation of ones' unconscious. It is a representation of a wish or a fear. In your dream it represents the fear that you must have experienced --- the fear of dying.

Sorry, we may be in different time zones. I was already asleep when you responded last night.
It doesn't matter if it was a dream or reality. What you added points to the fact that it was your fear. Are you able to associate to what your fear may be about?
BTW, I am in the Eastern time zone. It is 7:50 AM right now. It doesn't matter. I just want you to know why I didn't respond when it was 12:16 AM here.
Anyway, I'll wait for your reply.

Yes i figured it was eastern time where you are because your time sending e mails is shown on your responces.I dont mind at all how long it takes for a responce take your time.I was just saying it was while i was dreaming. Also i never meant to wake you up.Do all of the experts work from home? Now i am so confused about what i was even asking in the first place.I think maybe ill start over. Thanks for your help.

NO!!!!!!!! You did not wake me. I was just wanting you to know why it took me so long to get back to you.
I guess some experts work from home. I have a private practice where I see adults, children and adolescents in individuaol therapy and I also do couples therapy. My computer is in my office and when I have a break I answer questions on JA.

Anyway6, so please enter any other questions you may have and I will be glad to answer.
