I was driving an old car trough a mountain road and I was very unhappy. I got to a dead end. I got off the car and I saw a green rough sea about a metre away from me and below me. The water was green but not a clear water. The waves were very strong and crushing to the rocks. I saw someone in a boat. His boat was capsided by the strong waves and he and his boat were thrown off. I saw 2 or 3 divers wearing black about a mile away from the shore into the sea floating in the water. Seeing the rough sea frightened me. Then I was in the middle of the sea. I was paddeling peacefully in the sea. Then I was out of the sea again in the same place were I got off my car. My hair was wet. I said to myself that although the sea looked frightening it was actually quite enjoyable to swim in it and I felt very relaxed and refreshed.
Wow - this is an interesting dream. There is some great symbolism in it. I would like to attempt to interpret it for you, if you like. Since you already gave a lot of detail I may not need to ask any clarifying questions (yet).
So, in dreams a vehicle or house usually represents the self. You mentioned that the car was old and that you were unhappy - you came to a dead end as well. This could indicate that there is something about your physical or emotional self that you aren't happy with and that you don't see a way out of it. However, you quickly spot a body of water. Water typically symbolizes emotion or an emotional situation. At first you fear it and you notice that this emotion or emotional situation is battering the rocks and swallowing up other people. You fear it. Yet, when you actually get into the water (i.e. the emotion or situation), you realize that it isn't bad at all. In fact, it's pleasant and brings you peace.
So, overall, I would guess that the dream indicates that you are not necessarily happy about getting older or feel that the rough road you've travelled in life doesn't have a happy end. Yet, when you face your emotions about it head-on (which you fear at first), you actually find the situation comforting - and you're at peace with it.
I would love to know your thoughts about this.
Thanks,
Dr. G.
Thank you for your answer. Can you tell me what the green sea means? Also what does the dead end mean? Is it the end of my career? Does this dream mean that my situation will stay the same or will it change? Because when I came out of the sea I was at the same dead end.
Well, it really depends on what meaning green has to you. Most people find it to be a calming color, but you could have your own personal association with it.
As for the "dead end" - death or 'dead' in dreams usually represents change or transformation. Thus, to me it doesn't mean an ending altogether, but a change of circumstance. When you came out of the sea, you were at the same dead end, but you had different feelings about it. My guess is that there will be a change in circumstance that you are afraid of at first, but that you will be at peace with once your process all your feelings about it.
I didn't get the sense that it was about work, unless the color green relates to work for you in some way. Generally transportation like cars have to do with feelings about the self - personal things.
