Customer Question

I have 2 chocolate labs, one is very trained, the other is trainable as far as tricks. What tricks can I do that includes the 2 of them. Cool tricks where they both do something. I have this "hugging trick", but I want really cool tricks. Any ideas?? Also, how can I get one of them into agility. VERY athletic, and eager to learn. Where do I begin, how do I do it?? Never done it before, think it will be a cool experience. Videos??? Thanks so much!

Hello and thank you for using this site to help you.

Anything that is a habit of the dog you can turn into a cue. Look at what your dog exhibits individually and build on that as it is easier than starting from scratch a trick that may not come normal to them.

If you google dog tricks there are many videos on youtube, but it is important to take what your dogs already exhibit so they are comfortable with it. for instance , if they like to retrieve, put an odd cue to getting a tissue box for you such as a fake sneeze.

teaching any of the cues in this link can be turned into a trick. The cue Tug can be used to tug off your gloves or coat. You can do a double roll over, you can have them clean up for you. It's not the actual trick, it's what you make it into which is basically a show for others. http://www.doggiebuddy.com/topics/Trainingtopics/traintopic3.html

As for agility, you will want to look up local classes in your area and start there. This link may help you https://usdaa.com/gen_findGroup.cfm
