Customer Question

I have a 7yr. old chihuahua I got from a shelter. At first, he always went outside to relieve himself. Recently, he has refused to go outside, and we have to pick him and take him outside. Nothing was new that might have scared him. We have a fenced in back yard that is on a side walk.He doesn't seem to be afraid of big dogs. I don't know how to get him to go outside.

Hi there. My name is ***** ***** I'm happy to help you with your question. Just like an in person consult, I have a couple questions of my own to help ensure I give you the best advice possible....

How long have you had him?

Is he generally a nervous or anxious dog?

Is he food motivated?

Any accidents in the house at all?

When he does go outside, does he urinate large amounts, or small amounts?

What do you feed him?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
He is a rescue that we've had since Sept. of 2015. He's not one of those nervous shaky chihuahua He's not really food motivated. He has the attitude more of a cat than a dog. He's very slick about going is the house. I've even tried following him to see where he's going. He just goes in the living room and lays down. He drinks a fair amount of water, so he can really hold it or he's going in the house. He urinates kind of a lot. He eats dry dog food only.

When was the last time he had a complete physical at his vet?

Has he always drank alot of water, or is that new?

Was the rescue sure about his age?
