My dog is aggressive to others approaching, and dogs, he right

Customer Question

My dog is aggressive to others approaching, and dogs, he right away goes into a mode where he does not see or hear me, then tries to bite the leash and get towards person or dog he wants to attack. How do I handle this without causing more problems. He is a 2yr old pit bull. Otherwise loving with us and people he knows and our other dog.

DakotaSouthFive :

Hello and welcome. My name is XXXXX XXX I am a professional in the dog field for 25 years. It will be my pleasure to help you today.

DakotaSouthFive :

Do you train him daily in obedience and if so where do you train him

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

I work with him, since he needs to be reminded all the time that I am the boss.

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

But, we live in the country and it is not always that he sees people he does not know

DakotaSouthFive :

How do you show him you are the boss? What training method do you use? How often does he get out with you to public places?

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

my neighbor is one he does not care to see, nor her dogs, even if I call her name to pretend she is coming, he goes into a attack mode.

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

I have had 4 trainers, the last one told me to make him sleep in the crate, not on his own bed, he used to sleep with me and sit in my lap, I know now that was wrong.

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

He does not go to public places much, because of where we live and I work and when I come home we play around here.

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

I used to use treats, now just praise

DakotaSouthFive :

Ah yes it sounds like the trainer wanted you to control the dogs access to everything known as the nothing in life is free diet, but this doe not stop at removing from the bed or furniture are you familiar with this diet?

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

I try to turn him away from person or dogs he is focused on and he won't turn around, I walk back to house and he is facing object of his attention.

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

No. don't know.

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

He is a perfect dog in the house, never ruined anything, never went potty in the house.

DakotaSouthFive :

Thank you. At the end of our converstation I will direct you to a link for this. When you start to control the dog's resources that he needs and likes he begins to see you more as a leader and begins to respect you more. do you mind that I suggest you train him on a daily basis as well 15 minutes several times a day?

DakotaSouthFive :

I will direct you to a site for training as well

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

Will do anything, he really is a good dog.

JACUSTOMER-ofxpmdve- :

That is what the trainer said, he does not respect me!!!

DakotaSouthFive :

Please remember to only rate my answer when you are 100% satisfied.
