Customer Question

20 lb puppy may have ingested 30 mg ms contin pill 2 hrs ago. Do I need to do anything for her or will she tolerate the 10 hr time release of this pill? Thank you in advance for your answer and time.

Christine, dosing of the sustained-release morphine products range from 2-5 mg/kg. Your puppy may have ingested 30 mg/10 kg (20 lbs) or 3 mg/kg - well within the safe dosing guidelines. There's no reason to induce emesis or treat in any manner. Expect sedation, of course, if Callie did ingest the pill.

Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

Thank you. My mind is much calmer. I would have rushed her down to animal hospital, but sounds like that is unnecessary at this point. I appreciate your response.

All is well. Callie is fine and bouncing around like her usual puppy self. Thank You again.
