I give my dog, spike, an aspirin almost every day. can I give him more than 1?
JA: I'll do all I can to help. What is the matter with your dog?
Customer: we got hooked up with a bad vet. she had an i.v. hooked up to his front right leg. an aspirin a day (81mg) usually helps. I was wondering if the cold weather here is making it ache appreciate any help
JA: Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?
Customer: yes, nothing
JA: The Veterinarian will know what to do. What is the dog's name?
Customer: spike. he weighs about 25 #

Aspirin can be dose at 10 mg/lb (250 mg for Spike) with food at 12 hour intervals. Chronic administration can result in gastrointestinal distress - inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea - and so try to limit its dosing to when Spike really needs it.
