Hi my dog is a 9 month old German Shepard. I've been taking him to the vets every month . He's had a scan blood tests and a poo sample . Results have been virus. The vet gives him buscapan. Yet after a couple of weeks he's the same again. He doesn't want his food. He gets diareah . And slightly off it. What road should I go down do you think
JA: I'll do all I can to help. What is the dog's name?
Customer: Max

Hello and thank you for using this site to help you. German Shepherds have issues with food allergies so it may be worth looking at the food he is eating suddenly disagreeing with him. Try foods made for dogs with food allergies such as duck/salmon and sweet potato , just do the change over slowly and it can take a couple of months before seeing a difference/

They are also prone to inflammatory bowel disease (LPE), pancreatic insufficiency and and I would look into that. I will put links on these below.

Boscapan is used for colic in horses , but sometimes used for gassy stomach or muscle spasms in dogs.

There are some protazoa that do not show up in stool at all times and they can make a dog feel pretty sick and have diarrhea.

You are now at a point that the dog is not wanting to eat as normal so I might ask for another opinion and exam from a different Vet just to get a fresh take on things.

He's just the same . At this point I'm going to get a second opinion . He dose seem livley in him self . But still not eating .
The tablets he's on are metrobactin 500mg. 1 each day for 5days .

That is to help stop diarrhea from infections such as giardia protazoa. If the dog has girardia then that explains the diarrhea. But it is still worth bringing in a stool sample for a second opinion. You said the stool was inconclusive which can happen with giardia. Sometimes it takes more than one sample.

That being said it is worth also looking at the avenues that the shepherd is prone to.
