No, naproxen is one of the most toxic nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in dogs. As little as 2.5 mg/lb can cause gastrointestinal ulcers and 7 mg/lb can result in renal failure. Ibuprofen should be avoided as well. Aspirin dosed at 10 mg/lb with food twice daily or acetaminophen dosed at 7 mg/lb thrice daily are acceptable analgesics in dogs. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

glad I asked! Do you think I should give him some Tylenol? He won't eat so I will have to force it down his throat. Thank you!

I would be more comfortable having Gus's vet look at Gus and determine why a dog with recent normal blood work is now lethargic and anorexic. Tylenol won't be harmful but there appears to be more going on than Tylenol will be able to address. You're quite welcome. Please continue our conversation if you wish.

I have contacted my vet and am waiting to hear from her. Thanks very much. I'll take him in if I don't hear from my vet by tomorrow.

Hi,

I'm just following up on our conversation about Gus. How is everything going?
