Ask a Dog Vet and Get Answers to Your Dog Veterinary Questions
Hi,I'm Dr Scott. Welcome to JustAnswer, I am working on your question now, you can expect a written reply sometime within the next ten minutes or so.
Hello againI have worked out an answer for you below.1. Hopefully Cooper has something very minor, but yes you should be concerned, a dog which is drinking excessively is always a quite a worry as this can sometimes be the first sign of serious disease.2. Let me give you a list of conditions which I would be initially considering when first presented with such a dog.
A. Diabetes mellitus - sugar diabetes - easy diagnosis via blood testB. Diabetes insipidus - rare but does happen - catches vets out !C. Kidney problems - diagnosed by blood testsD. Chronic hepatitis or other liver problems - diagnosed via blood tests or imaging of the liver.E. Cushings syndrome3. I am sorry I cannot offer any home remedies here as I usually like to do, the diagnosis is so wide ranging this is not really possible. Accordingly all I can suggest is that you should have your vet check Cooper over as soon as possible, a quick blood test will quickly help your vet rule out or confirm the sort of diagnosis I have suggested above. You can then take it from there ..4.
