My dog has a broken neck, we just found out. Surgery is not

Customer Question

My dog has a broken neck, we just found out. Surgery is not possible, he is on meds. Would he benefit from a cart since his hind legs seem frozen and would it help in the healing process?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?
Customer: No wound
JA: What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Thx, six Tux
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your dog?
Customer: No, healthy otherwise

In addition, should Tux be in an eco brace? He is a schnauzer mini.
Customer: replied 8 days ago.
I meant should he be in a brace, not sure where those other words came from.

Neck brace
Expert:  Jess K replied 5 days ago.

Hello, this is Dr. Jess. I am very sorry to hear about Tux. I am also sorry no one replied to your post before now.

Does he have an actual fracture in a vertebrae? If that is the case, then a cart may benefit him in the future, but until the bone heals, he needs to move as little as possible. As far as a brace goes, whether or not it would be effective or tolerated depends on where in the neck the fracture is located- your vet should be able to tell you whether or not this is something that would help him, or if it is even possible. Have you discussed these questions with them?
