My 8 yo pomeranian has developed a blue/black interior mouth

Customer Question

my 8 yo pomeranian has developed a blue/black interior mouth color. I had his 4 remaining teeth removed 3 months ago and had very little side affects.....any relationship to dental surgery and current color of mouth ???

That would be unlikely, Bernard. My concern is that you're seeing cyanosis - a lack of oxygen to Fuzz's tissues most often due to advanced cardiovascular disease. Please check Fuzz's tongue color for me. It should be nicely pink - not bluish/greyish. Please check Fuzz's respiratory rate while he's alseep or at rest. He should be taking less than 30 breaths per minute at those times. Please let me know what you find.
