Welcome to Justanswer! I am Dr. Altman and happy to assist you both today!I am so sorry to hear that your dog got scratched! You did great cleaning the area, I would repeat every 12 hours for a few days until the red turns pink and then taper frequency. If you can apply for 5-10 minutes and minimize licking by holding his mouth shut that would be ideal. I would also avoid putting anything topical on the areaYou can also use benadryl 1 mg/ pound to minimize rubbing and licking for a few days every 8 hours to help with the itch but may cause mild sedation. Please also make sure your dog has a current rabies vaccination as a precaution since we cannot definitively say who did this and what their vaccine status isPlease let me know how else I can assist you both today. I am online another 10 minutes tonight
