Betty, if a non-infectious degenerative and/or traumatic arthritis has arisen in my canine patient, a chondroprotective agent such as Adequan is reasonable in conjunction with a nonsteroidal antinflammatory drug (NSAID) such as carprofen or meloxicam. Adequan isn't expected to provide enough analgesia or anti-inflammatory activity when prescribed as the sole therapeutic agent. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
