I'm going to ask a few questions about Rocky:

How long has this lump been present (years/months/weeks) ?

Is it firm?

Is it loose and only on the skin or is it firmly attached to underlying tissues?

Is the skin pigmented (black)?

Please take the time to answer ALL of the questions so that I can help with Rocky's problem.

It could be several things. A lick granuloma cased by irritation such as an allergy, a foreign body such as a splinter, behavioral such as anxiety or boredom, cancer.

Is it possible to take a picture of it and post it to me? Make sure that it is focused.

Pat, are you there? I keep getting a message that you have responded but there is no dialog.

You are going to need to stop the bleeding if you can, and then take him to your vet for a diagnosis so that the underlying cause can be dealt with.

By any chance do you have an Elizabethan Collar that you could put on him?

If not, I'll try to describe what you can do. Is this the hind paw or the front one?

And how big is the sore in inches? Measure length and width.

Would it help to continue with a phone call? I can send you the info.
