Customer Question

Our dogs ate pork ribs with bones. (We did NOT give them the ribs, they got up on the back of the counter and pulled them down) What do we need to be watching for?

Oh dear, dogs can be such stinkers huh? So as long as they didn't chew up or swallow bones the most important thing you're watching out for is GI signs- loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. A lot of times dogs eat something that is different, or doesn't agree with them, and can have a few days of vomiting and/or diarrhea. If they chewed up the bones and swallowed them then that can be much more serious- ranging from nothing to a severe intestinal obstruction. Symptoms of that include vomiting, not eating, and abdominal pain. I'd visit your vet if any vomiting or loss of appetite occur.
