Dosing of Benadryl is 1-2 mg/lb with a maximum of 50 mg at any one time. You didn't over dose her. Most important, Benadryl isn't anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) which is what you're looking for at this time. Instead, you have two reasonable options. The first is an anxiolytic benzodiazepine such as alprazolam (Xanax); the second is the new product called Sileo (Zoetis) available through Sandy's vet. Sileo contains a drug we've used to disassociate ("space out") our patients when given by needle. The drug is now available as an oral product designed for phobia/anxiety-inducing events such as thunderstorms. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
