Customer Question

We have a Havanese girl who turned 13 in April. Our vet wants to put her under anesthetic and clean her teeth. I'm not sure this is the right thing to do for her. What are your thoughts?
Thank you!

Hi this s Dr. Gabby.

So I have a few additional questions for you.

1. Just how bad are her teeth? Does she have a lot of tartar, a loose tooth, or gum inflammation?

2. Has the vet run blood work to check her internal organ function and her white blood count and red blood count?

3. Does she have any heart disease or other health issues?

We use Twist for plaque and tartar and I spray her mouth with Nylabone Advanced Oral Care. Did some blood work a year or 2 ago. No heart disease that I know of. I know he does not like the breed and I should've switched long ago.

But how are her teeth? Does she have tartar or gum redness or bad odor coming from her mouth?
