Do dogs need their anal glands squeezed by groomers?

Hello,

No, I do not recommend it at all. Great question.

A dog with normal anal glands and no history of scooting or anal gland problems should not have them expressed at all by anyone.

Every time they are expressed it creates inflammation down there.

In addition, groomer's do a "external" expression. They do not glove up like a technician or veterinarian and fully manipulate the gland to get it fully expressed and in the right direction. When it is needed, I only recommend a technician or doctor do it.

Hope that information helps
