hi i am wondering if i can give my dog Amoxicillin that was prescribed to a human.

Customer: She was bitten by our other dog. And She seems fine now, but I want to know if I can give her (amoxicillin prescribed for human) if an infection developes

Hi, this is Dr. Gabby.

Yes dogs can take amoxicillin.

But amoxicillin is not good for skin infections or bite wound infections.

So most likely it will not help.

We normally use Cephalexin for skin wounds.

You can clean the wound with Hydrogen peroxide and apply neosporin or antibiotic cream twice a day.
