Customer Question

i have a 1 year old 6 lb yorkie that was fine 2 hours ago. First I noticed her head shaking a little. Now I notice that her belly is feeling cooler to the touch. She usually is non stop playing, she is sleeping now.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Veterinarian will know how to help the dog. What is the dog's name?
Customer: Hailey
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Hailey?
Customer: When she was sitting up...her front legs kinda just slid out from under her slowly. like she just didnt want to hold herself up any more.

Hi there. My name is ***** ***** I'm happy to help you with your question. Just like an in person consult, I have some questions of my own to help ensure I give you the best advive possible.....

Has Hailey had any vomiting or diarrhea?

Has she been doing any unusual physical activity?

Is she eating/drinking normally?

Has she had any vaccines or anything recently?

She was sick one time this morning. But no to all other questions. She has eaten since and has been drinking water.

Great. Thanks for the additional information. I really appreciate it.

Since this has only been going on for such a short time, I definitely think that monitoring her for tonight is absolutely an acceptable thing to do.

Dogs can get upset, just like people, and if she vomited this morning, then it's definitely possible that she was just feeling a little under the weather.

If she's still lethargic tomorrow, or if she does any more vomiting, then you should have your vet take a peek at her, but usually this resolves on it's own in a day or so.

I hope this helps.
