Yorkie has kennel cough. What do I do?

Customer Question

Yorkie, 3lbs, 1 year old has kennel cough. I have some cindamycin. Can I give it to her and if so, how much? Her name is Cadence and she does not want to eat much.

Sorry to hear your Yorkie is unwell, however I have worked out an answer for you below...
1. A usual dose for clindamycin in dogs is 5 mg per pound every 12 hours or 10 mg per pound every 24 hours orally. I usually like to give it twice a day for a seven day course.
2. For your dog then at 3 lbs in weight it would be 15 mg twice a day or 30 mg once a day.
3. Here is a link to an accurate article which covers how this drug is used in dogs : LINK
