Is the plant 'campsis radicans'(hummingbird vine, trumpet

Customer Question

Hello. Is the plant 'campsis radicans'(hummingbird vine, trumpet vine) toxic to dogs? One of my Pomeranians just ate a few fallen blossoms. She doesn't seem to be having any problems.

Mischa, there appears to be differing opinions concerning trumpet vine but I'm going to believe the University of California at Davis ("Safe and Poisonous Garden Plants", 2012) when this plant is posted as non-toxic but its sap can cause a skin rash/irritation. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

Hi Mischa,
I'm just following up on our conversation about Marlene. How is everything going?

Marlene is fine. She didn't have any problems and she didn't eat any more trumpet flowers. Thank you for your help.
