My dog just got a c section last nights and was prescribed

Customer Question

Hi. My dog just got a c section last nights and was prescribed 25mg of Tramafol. I mistakingly gave her the whole tablet of 50mg. She is 14 lbs. Is this okay?

Yes, and she probably will appreciate it. The new dosing guidelines for tramadol are 2-5 mg/lb up to every 8 hours or ~30 - 70 mg for her up to every 8 hours. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

Can I still give her 25 mg eight hours later?

Just wanted to see if you got my question. Can I give her the regular dosage in 8 hours.
Expert:  Dr. Michael Salkin replied 5 months ago.

You bet. The larger dose is excreted quicker than a smaller dose.
