The wound 1st appeared 48 hrs ago as a dime size open wound on face. Over those 48 hrs he rubbed and tugged all fur away to size of a golf ball. Round open wound with blood, infection setting in due to his constant rubbing. Put dog cone on and began cleaning 4 times daily with soap/ water. Neosporine applied after. It's been 72-84 hrs and no bite noticable but infected and painful

OK, got it. It sounds like it could be an abscess that opened up, or a hot spot. The other possibility (less likely) is some type of skin tumor.

It sounds like you are taking good care of it so far- but that it needs more than what you can do at home. He may need oral antibiotics to fully clear the infection. He may also need to have it shaved and flushed.

Too sudden for hot spot, no bite marks, but behavior indicates this. Noticed it at 7 AM which means it happened before we went running.

I've paid for a phone call service response yet I have not received one. When does this veterinarian typically call back?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
When do I get this phone call?
Expert:  Rebekah Kane replied 11 months ago.

I don't think there are many veterinarians who can offer this service- it depends on their state/jurisdiction veterinary medical board. I cannot offer this service. I know there are a few veterinarians who do offer it, but their availability is highly variable. If you would like a refund, I can flag Customer service for you.

Please foward me to customer service since your agency cannot provide a phone call as paid for
Expert:  Rebekah Kane replied 11 months ago.

OK, I have messaged them. Sorry about that!
