Hi Cathy,

This is Dr. KV. I'm here to help you with Ginger. Can you give me a little more info? Do you think she go into something toxic?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
No we were in bed asleep then my fire alarm started to beep like the battery needed to be replaced she seemed to wanna hide now she panting and shaking
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
It's been about a hour and she won't relax or lay down and she's just shaking all over really bad
Expert:  Katie Volat replied 8 months ago.

Does Ginger usually get very stressed or scared with loud noises? An hour is a long time to be shaking...pooe girl! Will she allow you to comfort her or is she shying away from you?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
At first she wouldn't lay down now she's laying but she's still panting and shaking
Expert:  Katie Volat replied 8 months ago.

The loud noise of the fire alarm could have startled her, but it sounds like she is taking a long time to calm down. If she woke up suddenly, she may have hurt herself accidently. Does Ginger have any history of back pain or arthritis?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
No she only has a heart merma that I know of.should I try a benedryl
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Hello
Expert:  Katie Volat replied 8 months ago.

Benedryl may make Ginger sleepy which may be helpful if she won't settle down. Offer her some water as well. Panting and shaking could be signs of stress, anxiety, or pain.

Expert:  Katie Volat replied 8 months ago.

If she seems worse, you may want to contact a local vet ER tonight. It would be a good sign if she is able to sleep comfortably. If she has further panting or seems to be exerting more effort to breath, then she should be examined to ensure her heart is ok.

I have anti anxiety meds for myself what's better that or benadryl ...She seems to be getting better
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Wow shes not panting or shaking anymore i think she might have had a anxiety attach
Expert:  Katie Volat replied 8 months ago.

Great news! I would not recommend anti-anxiety medication if she seems to be getting better.
