Pepto Bismol contains bismuth subsalicylate which is a weak antacid and "coating agent". Pepcid (famotidine) is a fast acting antacid. One doesn't replace the other but the two can be given concomitantly. I dose Pepto Bismol at 0.1 - 1 mL/lb of body weight every 8 hours...quite a wide range of dosing. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
