My dog has been diagnosed with 2 mast cell tumors in her

Customer Question

Hello,
my dog has been diagnosed with 2 mast cell tumors in her skin over her scapula area.
she is feeling fine & behaving normally.
my question is , I am going away for a week so is it better to :
-let her stay at our local kennel , where she loves to go & play, gets great care, & comes
home tired from all the excitement
OR
- have a friend stay at my home (my dog doesn't know this person)

Hello. Thanks for the question.

There is no reason to not have her go to the kennel where she is able to play and get good amounts of exercise. I would probably send them with some Benadryl to give her in case of any allergic type reactions that are more common with dogs that have mast cell tumors.

Once you're back in town, I would schedule the surgery to remove the tumors and biopsy them to see if you can get a surgical cure.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
