Ask a Dog Vet and Get Answers to Your Dog Health Questions
Hello. Thanks for writing in. My name is***** and I would be happy to help you. I am sorry to hear that Frank is having such a hard time. The Panadiene is not a good idea to give him. It is acetaminophen, which can be very toxic to dogs. Their liver is not able to properly metabolize it. It can cause fulminant liver failure, which will make his condition a lot worse. The Marcolone should help with some pain, but it sounds like he needs to be on a some tramadol or gabapentin. I would just call your vet to see if they can prescribe that without bringing him back in. If he was just seen last week, it is a terminal problem, and you are just trying to keep him comfortable; there shouldn't be a reason for them to not right a prescription. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Hope this helps.
