My small dog, a 9.5 pound Pomeranian mix, takes 1/4 of a 25

Customer Question

My small dog, a 9.5 pound Pomeranian mix, takes 1/4 of a 25 mg spironolactone tablet for congestive heart failure, along with enalapril. I accidentally gave him the whole 25 mg spironolactone pill. Should I induce vomiting?

Hi, I can help you with your question today.

Expert:  brisadog replied 1 year ago.

Yes, let's induce vomiting. For a 9.5 lb dog, you can give 2 TEAspoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Mix it with a small amount of milk to get him to drink it.

Then take him on a brisk walk to mix his stomach contents. He should vomit within 20 minutes.

After that, just make sure that he has free access to water throughout the next 24 hours to prevent dehydration. He may drink and urinate more than usual.
