SALIS ONLY Aloha Dr. ... After Eagle died I got another

Customer Question

FOR DR. MICHAEL SALIS ONLY
Aloha Dr. Mike...
After Eagle died I got another Dobie from my former show handler. He a Black & Rust, 4 Years old with solid muscle - a great friendly dog.
Last Sunday nite and Monday Tufani developed Diarrhea. Watery light yellow in color. He has had NO temperature, lethargy, vomiting, or abdominal pain. He has not lost his appetite but dislikes &seldom eats the bland diet of rice water & chicken broth I gave him starting Monday afternoon. I also gave him 3 tablespoons of Pepto Bismol over a 4 hour time frame. I have not given any Pepto to him today/ (I have Immodium, if needed).
He has not had a BM since Monday afternoon so I don't know whether or not he still has the problem.
Since the Fiasco with Eagle, I will only take him to one clinic which is a bit far from home for me, & only if you consider it necessary.
Tonight I fed him boiled chicken with rice. I will put him back on his high protein kibble after his stools solidify & continue to closely monitor his BM's? Does this sound like a good approach to you??
Regards,
Rich

Thanks, Rich. Because Tufani hasn't had a BM since Monday, he's likely to be remissing already and you're likely going to be able to avoid having him see his vet. The bland chicken and rice is reasonable but it's time to feed him his regular food unless you opened up a new bag of kibble and his diarrhea began soon after. Can you think of something he got into that may have incited his diarrhea?
