My dog just started chattering her teeth today. Both times

Customer Question

My dog just started chattering her teeth today. Both times when I was preparing her meal. She scarfed it down and the chattering stopped, but she seemed to be shaking as well - really new and unfamiliar behavior. It kind of scared me.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Sita - 11
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Sita?
Customer: No - she's really healthy - she had all her shots - but she does need a little dental work. The vet saw her last week for her shots and said she had calculus on her teeth. But she's had that for a while - not sure if that's related to this behavior
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Veterinarian about your situation and then connect you two.

Hello,

My name is***** and I will help you.

We are busy and If you can wait just a few minutes I'll be back.

Expert:  Dr Marta Lepes replied 9 months ago.

I want to give you some possibilities for teeth chattering.

Tooth root abcess.

Pharyngeal mass.

Partial seizure.

TMJ problems.

Expert:  Dr Marta Lepes replied 9 months ago.

If you have her undergo dentistry all those possibilities can be checked except for the partial seizures. But because it seems to be associated with eating it is unlikely to be seizure related.

Expert:  Dr Marta Lepes replied 9 months ago.

I would recommend that you do schedule Sita for a dental cleaning so that your veterinarian can check all possibilities.

The chattering is probably pain related. But when she eats she can over-ride the discomfort because she is so focussed on eating.

If you have any questions we can continue - even after the rating. I want to sure that I have helped you with your question.

The main thing is that Sita feel better.
