How much does Gizmo weigh, please? This drug might be prescribed as an add-on therapy with phenobarbital or bromide in dogs at a dose of 30 mg/lb. It's not recommended in veterinary patients, however, because of its very short half-life in dogs.

Gizmo weighs 15 pounds

Thank you. 500 mg isn't much of an overdose. You might see a bit of ataxia ("drunken sailor") but Gizmo should remain safe. Of 43 exposed dogs the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center reported just 5 becoming symptomatic and they all were ataxic. There's no reason to induce emesis if only because this drug is absorbed too rapidly for emesis to be of value. I can't set a follow-up in this venue so please return to our conversation - even after rating - with an update at your convenience.
