My 12 year old dachshund has been diagnosed with a slight

Customer Question

My 12 year old dachshund has been diagnosed with a slight heart murmur. She has been fine and still has an appetite. All of the sudden she has started heavy labored breathing and restlessness. She will rest and suddenly start panting and roaming around. We just offered her a treat which she readily ate, but continues to be restless and with fast heavy breathing. It is 10 pm and this whole scenario started about an hour ago.

Hello Cheryl, my name is***** and I will help youThe small amount that Gunther ingested is not a problem. Just make sure that you rub it in to prevent him from getting more.

If you have any more concerns please let me know - even after the rating.

Cheryl, this system is acting up. Please ignore the bit about Gunther.

OK the pink tongue is a good sign.

Watch her very carefully tonight and if the tongue loses its pink color go to an emergency clinic.

But tomorrow definitely go see your vet because there might be changes to her heart which require medication.

Expert:  Dr Marta Lepes replied 11 months ago.

Because of her age and the fact that she already has a heart murmur you must monitor her carefully.

John you have had her for a long time and I know that she is precious to you.

Good morning John,

I apologize for the mix up of the messages. The technical help was unable to fix it.

Did you get peanuts to a vet? I hope that she is doing better. Please let me know.
