Trembling/shaking/vocalizing are all pain responses. Aspirin dosed at 10 mg/lb with food and repeated in 12 hours is safe. Acetaminophen dosed at 7 mg/lb thrice daily is safe but isn't antiinflammatory as is aspirin. You must avoid both ibuprofen and naproxen - both of which are toxic to dogs. Please keep him as quiet as possible tonight - avoid his jumping up or down or navigating stairs. His vet can prescribe more potent analgesic nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs such as carprofen or meloxicam tomorrow. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
