Perianal ("around the anus") growths in elderly male dogs can be quite concerning because, yes, they often represent perianal adenocarcinomas - dangerous cancers which metastasize readily. Less commonly, perianal adenomas which are benign can arise. It's very difficult to differentiate one from another unless the tumors are biopsied which is usually done when they're surgically removed. I understand that such surgery might not be appropriate at Lakotah's age. Can you upload a photo of this growth to our conversation? You can use the paperclip icon in the toolbar above your message box (if that icon is visible) or you can use an external app such as dropbox.com. I can be more accurate for you if I can see what you're seeing.

I can try and take a picture, he is not eager for me to look at his hinnie. But I will try, it will be tomorrow before i can do it as I am at work right now.

No worries. I'll watch for your next post. Ultimately, Lakotah's vet is going to need to take a look at Lakotah's hinnie and tell you if it makes sense to remove those growths.

I have an appointment tomorrow.

I'm pleased to hear that Lakotah will be attended to soon. I can't set a follow-up in this venue and so would appreciate your returning to our conversation with an update - even after rating - at a time of your choosing.

Hi,
I'm just following up on our conversation about Lakotah. How is everything going?
