Customer Question

i have a 3 year old fox terrier who had been off his food food and vominting when i took him to the vet about 2 months ago. they gave him antibotics and said to bring him back in 10 days, when i took him to another vet. they put him on a drip overnight and said eh had a pancreace inflamation. he came all right then got sick again. Benson has lost weight and is not well. his poo seem to have white eggs about the size of rice.

http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=562Hello there, this is Dr Jess. I am sorry to hear about Bensons problems. It is possible what you are seeing in his stool is tapeworm segments, as these look like grains of white rice. The link above is an article about tapeworms.

The tapeworms don't usually cause any noticeable illness though, but other intestinal parasites can, so I would let your vet know about them and drop off a stool sample to check for other parasites. If he has been losing weight this is important to do. I would also recommend bloodwork to check for any underlying diseases. What are his symptoms right now?
