Customer Question

I have a 13 year old golden that has sore hops after a rough day at groomer. He's otherwise healthy. Can j give him Motrin to help his discomfort?

I am sorry to hear you are worried about your Golden. My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

Motrin (ibuprofen) is not safe in dogs. I would not use it. The safest pain medications are by prescription, from your veterinarian.

Some dogs can take aspirin. If you want to try it, give it with food, and stop if there is any vomiting. You can give a 75 pound dog 1/2 to 1 regular aspirin (325 mg) once to twice daily, or as needed, with food.

Let me know what else I can answer or help with. Kindly consider rating my answer (always appreciated!); you can still get back to me with questions and updates after rating.
