Our dog was diagnosed with cushings about three months ago

Customer Question

Our dog was diagnosed with cushings about three months ago and started on vetoryl. about three weeks ago he was diagnosed with diabetes and we started him on insulin. we took him to our vet yesterday and have increased insulin to 20 units. He had a stressful night and now is having a great deal of trouble walking. Is there anything we can do?

I am sorry that you have been waiting for a response. I recently just logged onto the site and noted that your question hasn't yet been answered. I am a licensed veterinarian with over 25 years’ experience and would be happy to work with you if you are still needing assistance.

Can you give me a little more information about your dog? Age? Breed?

Does he seem painful or weak?

Does his Cushings seem to be controlled? Has his cortisol levels been tested recently?

Has he had a blood glucose curve?

What type of insulin are you using? Twice a day?

Thanks and I will respond further after you reply. There may be a slight delay while I formulate and type a thorough response or I may be offline, but if so, I will respond as soon as I am able.
