At 5 months of age deciduous (baby) teeth and adult teeth may be present concomitantly. If the tooth that broke was a deciduous tooth, nothing need be done because it will eventually fall out unaided. If the tooth were an adult tooth, however, remnants of the tooth need to be extracted lest a root abscess arises. Have you found the part of the tooth that broke off? If it were a deciduous tooth it would be hollowed out and "frail" looking.
