Hi there I'm Dr. Sara - I'm a licensed veterinarian who works exclusively with dogs and cats.

Swollen legs are an odd presenting complaint. Are they swollen all over or just around a certain joint? I'm picturing a condition we call edema, which is where fluid is retained throughout all the tissues in the legs. Edema itself is not a disease, but rather a symptom of some disease. It can be due to circulatory problems, infections, low protein counts, or cancers. Because there are so many different diseases that could cause it, I'd suggest you call your vet to begin with a physical exam. Your vet may also run some blood work, collect some samples from lymph nodes, or take some X-rays to aid in the diagnosis.

I doubt that the recent change to canned food had any bearing on the swelling - these two are very likely unrelated.

Okay doc. I changed to canned food because deja wasnt eating.

How is she looking this morning? If she's not eating and those legs are still swollen I would definitely call the vet today.

Let me know if I can help :)
