Customer Question

My dog seems to be breathing hard, mouth closed, chest & belly moving. Seems lethargic. Usually when asked if he wants to go for a walk, he is excited and playful. Today he wanted to go, but lay down by the door instead of playing with our other dog as he usually does. Seems anxious. Did not eat last night, and has no interest in food today - even a treat. He is 1-1/2 yrs old, beagle/basset mix, about 65 pounds.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.
Are his gums pink or pale/white?
Can you take a breathing rate for me (just count his breaths for 10 seconds + multiply that by 6)?
Any vomiting?
Any access to toxins?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
He is out on a walk right now. No toxins. A little vomiting last night - clear w/some a bit of grass in it. Gums pink.

his breathing rate (as this is most important)?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
That and he seems anxious. and lethargic.

Hi again,
Are you able to take a breathing rate for me?
The reason I ask is because those pink gums are good but we may have a situation of respiratory compromise that we need to appreciate here.

I'll have to wait until he gets back. He wanted to go for his morning walk so they are out right now. So sorry.

That is fine,
Just let me know what it is when he returns (and do make sure they keep the walk small to avoid any risk of collapse far from home)
