Aloha! You're speaking to Dr. Michael Salkin
The only safe drops to use would be artificial tears available over the counter. Arty's redness and discharge are important symptoms but they're not pathognomonic (specifically indicative) of any one disorder. Primary infection is rare in a dog's eyes. When both eyes are affected, allergy or irritants should be suspected. Avoid products containing decongestants which can "get the red out" but mask potentially dangerous eye problems.
Until he can be attended to by his vet, I recommend carefully washing away the discharge and thoroughly irrigating his eyes with artificial tears as necessary throughout the day. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
