Hello, I'm Dr. Deb. I'll do my best to help you today.
I'm sorry for this concern for your older lab.
Despite the number of claims which might be made by a products on the internet, unfortunately, there are no eye solutions or ointments which will "cure" in any way cataracts
once they've developed in a dog's eyes.
I truly wish that these products worked but they just don't.
There are other solutions to cataract development, however, which would require a referral to a veterinary ophthalmologist since very few vets have the necessary equipment or expertise to treat this condition.
Surgical removal is the most common treatment with ophthalmic ultrasound and an electroretinogram performed first to determine whether vision will be restored once the lens is removed.
Most dogs do very well after such procedures but they can be quite expensive as you might expect.
I hope this helps. Deb
